So far this season Peter Kovari and Sean Eckstein have been the Crystal Squadron’s stalwarts, soaring cross-country every Saturday, even when their chances of reaching diamond distance were small.  Last week, Peter got to Mesquite, NV.  This week, improving conditions will likely bring out the fair weather sailors as well…

Two -21s On The Way

We’ve placed orders for two new A SK-21 sailplanes – both equipped with hand-rudder controls for our handicapped students.   Delivery is expected this fall.   (Meanwhile, we’re working on hand-rudder modifications for our Grob 103.)

The Air Force has purchased a fleet of  DG 1000s, and contracted us to provide tows for a series of test flights at the Edwards base.   It’s a rare, and very interesting treat for civilians to operate within that enormous complex!

Yet Another Record Flight

Congratulations to Gordon Boettger for zooming back & forth up & down the Sierra wave dragstrip to the tune of 2257 kilometers, or 1401 statute miles, a record for the Northern Hemisphere.

NOTICE:   Our Saturday seminar scheduled for this week has been postponed.
