The WINTER that WASN'T

If recent trends continue, the faux spring we've had this January and February will soon become the real thing, though we haven't really had a single winter storm here at Crystal since about this time last year.  Highway 2 over the mountains between here and Pasadena has remained bare and open all winter for only the second year ever.  This time however, even the snow above the road, up on our highest mountaintops, is showing only patches.  We may still get a real storm even well into March, but the window for a normal wave season seems to be closing.  On the bright side, with no snow pack to melt, those big boomers along the summit of our range (and others) will reach full strength much earlier and bring the onset of cross-country season weeks closer...This week:  more mild weather, moderate winds and thermals designed to make you practice for the outrageous ones soon to come!
