YET ANOTHER FIRST SOLO, YET ANOTHER SEASON BEGUN

The newest name on our list of recent solos is Peter Sunder,  just last Monday.  Congratulations, Peter. So the Ides of March is usually the time when we begin our annual string of about 200 consecutive days of good thermal soaring here at Crystal.  As if to prove that, yesterday (Wednesday the 13th) rafts of cumulus sat all afternoon over our high San Gabriel ridge lines, with bases well above 12,000 feet.  And today's forecast indicates similar conditions.   The coming week may not stay this bodacious, but each day will be warmer with light breezes - and of course oodles of our endless Mojave sun.
