The Premiere Glider Flight School in Southern California, located in the high desert of Los Angeles county, just over 1 hour driving time from LA.
At Crystalaire (46CN) nearly everyday is flyable.
Our location up against the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains in the high desert of Los Angeles county, is where the hot arid desert air meets the cooler moist air of the Los Angeles basin, making this one of the best soarable locations for gliders.
People who train with us get mountain experience!
Soaring Academy will familiarize you with the complex yet rewarding activity of mountain flying. Our airport is located only a short tow from the north side of the towering San Gabriel Mountains. We regularly experience strong desert thermals, convergence, ridge lift and mountain wave.

Whether it’s your first solo ever or your first solo in a glider, the experience is the same…it’s Awesome!
Graduation
The final step in pilot certification is a checkride at our field, give by an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. After passing this practical exam you will be issued an FAA Pilot Certificate.
Glider Rides
We offer different rides for the curious adventure seeker that showcase our unique geographic area, our weather conditions and the applied science of aerodynamics.
Our ops are supported by an extensive community of pilots.
Commercial Pilots and CFI’s say that they add to their skills by getting an add-on rating.
Giving backOur Veteran Mission
Veterans dealing with PTS and other debilitating injuries converge at our airfield once a month for an adrenaline filled flight and day of recreation. All branches of the military participate.
